Blossom Lamp
Vessel Lamp Shades for a private residential client. The challenge was to create lamp shades without an internal structure and be strong enough to support itself on the bulb holder. Naturally, I decided to use and develop my waste plastic bags material as it is lightweight, translucent, and meets the client's sustainable requirements.
The organic shapes are sculpted by heat-shrinking the bags over a mould. Each layer is hand-pressed to create a single durable laminate. Over 20 pliable bags are blistered and hardened to create 1 shell.
During the lamination process, the bulb holder's ring nut is fused together with the molten plastic for a glue-free design.
